About the role
A major Belgian insurer in Brussels is industrialising its cloud database platform after migrating core applications from mainframe to Microsoft SQL Server. As Senior Azure Cloud DBA Engineer, you design, automate, secure and operate enterprise Azure SQL Database and Cosmos DB services, and help the organisation move from traditional DBA practices toward a cloud-native database engineering model.
Responsibilities
- Design, deploy and operate enterprise Azure SQL Database and Cosmos DB services within Azure landing zones (networking, identity, private connectivity, backup, HA/DR)
- Lead Cosmos DB adoption and NoSQL governance (data modelling standards, performance, security, capacity and cost)
- Industrialise non-production data refresh, masking and scrambling across SQL Server, Azure SQL Database and Cosmos DB with GDPR compliance
- Build and maintain Terraform modules and CI/CD pipelines for consistent, secure database deployments
- Act as senior SQL Server / Azure SQL expert for performance analysis, capacity planning, security reviews and Tier-3 support
- Coach junior DBA profiles and share knowledge across architecture, cloud platform and application teams
